RE: Real Life Rescue Tricks
It's not something we would ever use at an incident. That's a childhood trick I learnt

I had never heard of that being a possibility,
In the early 90s that was a comon trick used by organized eastern-european car thieves (for a period of time a common joke in germany ew theat the polish tourissm-council created a new advertising slogan: "Come to Poland, your car is already here!").
A alot of the car builders have reated accordingly, but some (particullarly those brands that are not very popular on the black market) have not, and not every company may have but all the safeties in place for each country (after all its rather hard to get a stolen car out of the UK, but rather east ro get it out of germany).
However, on those cars wher it does work its about the easiest and quickest way to get in, and considering how little room the ball takes and how inexpensive it is i certainly is worth keeping it around.

RE: Real Life Rescue Tricks
top tip*** if an internal door opens toward you, you are entering a corridor or a stairwell, useful to know when in zero visability

RE: Real Life Rescue Tricks
Do they do that intentionally Sam? Never payed attention to it before, but now that u have mentioned it, all the doors I can think of that open towards me inside a building for the most part do lead to stairways & corridors.

RE: Real Life Rescue Tricks
its done intentionally yes but not for fire safety its done to create more room in a corridor and so that you dont open a door on someone while they are at the top of a flight of stairs. Its just another tool a firefighter can keep in the back of his mind
